Benila

199​​8年生まれ、埼玉県出身。

​幼少期からバスケを始め、高校ではインターハイに出場。プロ選手を目指し、大学でもバスケを続けるが、旅行先のパリで絵に目覚める。F130号(1.9x1.6m)などの大きなキャンバスに、POSCAマーカーで絵を直接描く。絵はすべて独学で、自分の感性だけを頼りに描く、独特な精神性のある絵が持ち味。地元埼玉でバスケットボールを続ける傍ら、東京を中心にアーティスト活動を行なっている。また、プロバスケチーム「立川ダイス」でプレーする兄がいる。

Born 1998 in Saitama, Japan.

Benila started playing basketball from early on and played at the national level in high school. He continued to play basketball in college to become a professional player, but during his visit to Paris, he discovered that the painting was his calling. He draws directly on large canvasses with POSCA pens, a specific brand of Japanese permanent markers known for its range of colors. He is a self-taught painter, and only relies on his intuition, and because of that, his paintings exhibit a certain sense of spirituality or soul that is hard to find in other paintings. He continues to play basketball in his hometown of Saitama, while doing art shows in the Tokyo area.

Fun fact: His brother plays basketball professionally in Tachikawa DICE in Tokyo.
